Blue was never supposed to be a wizard. He certainly wasn’t supposed to awaken something beneath the mountain.
Deep below the coastal city of Cavernhold lies another world: an endless maze of mines, ruined strongholds, forgotten roads, and places even the dwarves and Kragborn have learned to avoid.
Blue knows those tunnels better than most.
A young herbalist and explorer, he makes his living searching the Deep for rare herbs and whatever else the mountain has forgotten. But when one expedition leads him to an ancient chamber and a power he cannot explain, the quiet life he knew begins to unravel.
He can see glyphs invisible to everyone else. Magic answers him in ways it shouldn’t. And somewhere beneath Cavernhold, something has noticed.
As miners vanish and creatures long confined to legend begin moving through the darkness, Blue is drawn into an expedition that will carry him farther beneath the mountain than he has ever dared travel. Alongside unlikely companions, he will cross forgotten lands, uncover the remnants of an ancient war, and discover that the power awakening within him may be part of a conflict the world has already forgotten.
But not every forgotten thing wishes to remain buried.
An ancient web is tightening beneath the world, and before the journey is over, Blue must decide whether the power growing inside him is something to fear…
or the reason he was meant to find it.
About the Author
Andrew Blevins has spent more than forty years practicing Aikido and nearly as long wandering through fantasy worlds filled with dragons, forgotten ruins, strange magic, and doors that sensible people probably shouldn’t open.
A lifelong fan of fantasy books, movies, games, and tabletop adventures, he eventually realized that all those characters and half-explored worlds rattling around in his imagination might be trying to tell him something.
So he rolled the dice.
After publishing Aikido: Path of the Deshi, Andrew turned his attention to another path he had been quietly exploring since childhood: writing fantasy. Beneath Web and Stone grew from decades of imagination, gaming tables, friendships, and a persistent fascination with what might be waiting just beyond the torchlight.
When he isn’t writing, Andrew continues to teach and practice Aikido, explore new paths, and wonder whether the next roll will be a one or a twenty.
Either way, the adventure continues.
